Leftover Tape 1 - 5” x 7” acrylic on painters tape
This one was made from the…you guessed it…leftover tape from taping off previous paintings. I like the suggestion of a landscape it conveys and also at the bottom it brings to mind a cut away look of what might be in the soil underground.
Our Lady 8 - 5” x 7” Mixed media layered acrylic

I have been adding new pieces to my “Our Lady” mixed-media series…been layering acrylics and getting some lovely patterns and color combinations. I think they are pretty cool, especially the “nimbus” or halo area which I paint with iridescent paint. It lights up when you walk by it and catch the angle of the light just so. Unfortunately there is no way to convey that effect with a scanned image like you see above. You’ll just have to trust me, it’s the bees knees.
Canary Creek I
This small painting is of Canary Creek at Roosevelt Inlet in Lewes, Delaware. The creek winds its way back into the marshes next to the University of Delaware, Lewes Campus and runs along the south side of some really beautiful marsh land. In the 1970’s my grandparents would take us kids in their small rowboat up the creek and we’d crab with hand lines. It was a time to be outside together, enjoy nature and catch some crabs. Grandma would cut us a little slack if we missed netting a crab but if it was Pops we’d never hear the end of it.
Here are a few new colorscape experiments. Just pushing color around on paper and somehow it seems my subconscious/conscious is going for more unnatural looking saturated colors lately.

Hello. I recently finished this 14x22.5 watercolor of blue crabs in a bushel. I really enjoyed pushing the colors of the crabs. My mom had painted an abstract close up of crabs in a pot with lots of reds and I like that painting and have it in my house but I tend to gravitate more to the greens and blues. My grandparents used to take us crabbing with hand lines when we were kids. Rowing up Canary Creek from Roosevelt Inlet and entering the marsh was like entering another world…a great quiet sea of beautiful green marsh grass populated by dragonflies, great blue herons, white egrets, piddly crabs, the occasional eagle in the distance. and of course the blue crabs…I think I will title this one “Hey, Let Go of My Leg!”.
